Make calls from your computer â€” free to other people on Skype and cheap to landlines and cell phones around the world.  If you have a video camera attached to your computer you can see the person you are calling...just like the Jetsons!

Great free way to watch (and ultimately manipulate) DVD content.  Convert a DVD to mpeg-4 format and then use a cropped version as part of a lesson!

MPEG StreamClip

MPEG Streamclip is a free powerful video converter, player, editor for Mac and Windows. It can play many movie files, not only MPEGs; it can convert MPEG files between muxed/demuxed formats for authoring; it can encode movies to many formats, including iPod; it can cut, trim and join movies.  I have used it to convert movies made from my camera into the appropriate format for imovie.
